Let Us Honor His Sacrifice
Determined to eradicate Christians from the Central African Republic, Islamists shot to death Pastor Jean-Paul Sankagui in the nation’s capital on Feb. 7, 2017.

The pastor had planted a church in the Muslim neighborhood of Ramandji, on the outskirts of Bangui, in 1993 and was well known for his faithful Christian witness. He was killed just outside his church, which the Islamists looted and burned along with his home. He left behind his wife of 48 years, 11 children and 17 grandchildren.

The pastor’s name is being added to the Martyrs Memorial at VOM’s U.S. headquarters. The memorial serves as a reminder of the great cloud of witnesses that surrounds us as we run “the race that is set before us.” Join us on June 29, Day of the Christian Martyr, as we honor Pastor Jean-Paul Sankagui for his inspiring example.
