Help Your Church Prepare for Day of the Christian Martyr
As June 29 approaches, be sure your church is ready to honor those who have given all for Christ.
This year, The Voice of the Martyrs is honoring Pastor Jean-Paul Sankagui, who boldly planted a church in a Muslim neighborhood in the Central African Republic. Following a clash between government forces and anti-balaka militias, many members of Pastor Jean-Paul’s church fled as hostility toward Christians increased. Pastor Jean-Paul, however, stayed in obedience to what he believed God had called him to do.
Islamists shot Pastor Jean-Paul to death outside his church on Feb. 7, 2017, before looting and burning the church building and his house. But they could not silence his testimony for Christ.
Though this year’s Day of the Christian Martyr falls on a Monday, your church can honor Pastor Jean-Paul this Sunday. In addition to using the resources in your church, you can use them to inspire members of your Bible study group, your family and your friends to be bold witnesses for Christ.
