Though the Olympic Games are ending today, please continue praying for China's Christians, including imprisoned pastors and others still suffering for Christ.
Tens of Thousands Are Praying in More Than 100 Countries!
As the Olympic Games come to a close today, we celebrate the members of Christ’s body in more than 130 countries who have been praying for China’s Christians during the past two weeks. Our brothers and sisters in China have been encouraged by these prayers — thank you!
The Olympic torch will soon be extinguished, but the suffering of our brothers and sisters in China will continue. Pastors will remain in prison, and church congregations will still seek ways to gather after their church buildings are destroyed by the Communist government.
In short, our Christian family members in China will still need our prayers.
Here are two specific ways you can pray for Chinese Christians in the coming weeks and months:
Pray for the safe delivery of Bibles. China’s oppressive surveillance state has made it challenging to do anything secretly in China. Pray that God’s Word will spread freely despite the Communist Party’s efforts to control it.
Pray for imprisoned Chinese Christians. Pastor Zhang Shaojie is serving a 12-year sentence. Alimujiang Yimiti was arrested in 2008 for sharing the gospel with Uyghur people in western China. Pastor Wang Yi is serving a nine-year sentence. Pastor John Cao is serving a seven-year sentence. Pastor Li Juncai will be imprisoned for five and a half years. Pray that God’s grace will sustain these and other imprisoned Chinese Christians.
