After the murder of her husband, Rami, a leader of the Bible Society in Gaza, Pauline Ayyad wrestled deeply with Romans 8:28, which promises that “all things work together for good” for those who love the Lord. What good could come from her husband’s murder? What good could come from having to raise her three children, one not yet born, without their father? Pauline asked God why He allowed her to marry Rami knowing he had been chosen to die a martyr’s death. She did not want to forgive Rami’s killer; she wanted the murderer to pay for his crime. She didn’t just forgive quietly in her heart, but posted a message of forgiveness on social media.
