Making Christ Known in the Middle East
Countless Christians live in places where their faith is tested by fire.

Many have lost everything — their homes, their possessions and sometimes even their loved ones — because they chose to follow Christ. Among them is Domiana, a woman who faced persecution in Egypt. Today, we share her story and invite you to consider standing with persecuted Christians like her.

When Domiana’s neighbors in Cairo, Egypt, learned that she had left Islam to follow Christ, she and her family faced strong opposition. Local Muslims assaulted Domiana and set fire to her apartment building, forcing her and her children to live on the street for three days.

The family moved into a new apartment, but the Muslims found them. They broke into the apartment, assaulted Domiana’s son and trapped the family inside their home, refusing to let them leave.

Domiana and her family eventually escaped and relocated to a neighboring country, where they connected with VOM workers. VOM helped Domiana with living expenses while she and her children rebuilt their lives in a new country.

In Egypt and many majority-Muslim nations in the Middle East, Christian converts from Islam face harsh opposition from their families and communities. Often, their Muslim spouses divorce them, they are kicked out of their families and homes, and they are fired from their jobs.

You can help meet the specific, immediate needs of families like Domiana’s that have been driven from their homes because of their faith in Christ, letting them know they are loved and cared for by the global body of Christ.
