“When people are not discipled … their faith is not strong.”
Dr. David Kasali is determined to disciple more Christians in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a place where believers are specifically targeted for persecution by terrorist groups and radical Islamists.

“When people are not discipled, they are frail,” he said. “Their faith is not strong.”

In this VOM Radio episode, David tells about recent attacks by the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), including one in which a man was murdered just for acknowledging his faith in Christ and another in which a church was bombed during worship services. Such attacks are becoming increasingly common in the DRC.

David also describes how he prepares Congolese Christians for persecution and discusses the importance of standing strong in Christ during hardship and suffering. Listen now!

Helping Christians in Israel — including Gaza — after Oct. 7
Oct. 7, 2023, is one of those dates that will always be remembered.

Ben Barrett, who leads VOM’s work in Israel (including Gaza and the West Bank) remembers the flurry of text messages he received from both Messianic (Christian) Jews and Arab Christians — even before the attacks made international news. Believers in Israel had an urgent request: “Please pray for us!”

Some asked for prayer because communications with relatives in Gaza had been cut off. A Messianic rabbi requested prayer for his daughter, who had been ordered back to her military base. Video footage from a pastor in Sderot, the closest settlement to Gaza, showed him lying flat on the floor inside his home as trucks full of terrorists shouting “Allahu Akbar!” drove past.

Listen as Ben tells about pastors from both Jewish and Muslim backgrounds who proclaim the gospel among extremists despite the risk. He also talks about Jewish-background believers in Orthodox and Ethiopian communities who face shame, excommunication and job loss because they follow Christ. Listen now!
